Bengal Township Board Meeting    May 12, 2010

Supervisor Eric Mohnke called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with all board members present.  Also in attendance were Don Potts of Searles Construction, Tom Irrer, Jack Enderle Board of Commissioner, Sara Morrison of Briggs Pulbic Library and Larry Wineland.

The Board members led the Pledge of Alleginace.

Stephen Mahoney moved, supported by Arleita Schafer to approve the Agenda with the additions.  Motion carried.

Marilyn Irrer moved, supported by Judith Huhn to approve the Minutes of April 14, 2010 with the correction of spelling of Slag instead of slade.  Motion carried.

Arleita Schafer moved, supported by Stephen Mahoney to accept the Treasurer's report as presented.  Motion carried.

Jack Enderle Board of Commissioner gave a brief report about the happenings at the County level.  Saturday June 12th is the Grand Opening at Motz Parks.  The County Commissioners pick the people for the different boards when there is a vacancy.

Sara Morrison of Briggs Public Library gave a brief report on the Library and its different programs they have for everyone.

Gregory Armbrustmacher, Assessor was not at the meeting.  Eric had a split application for David Harper wanting to make lot line adjustment for his property and the property that he sold his daughter.  Township would like a new Survey, tabled until June meeting.

We will type up a new lease for the new Township Hall.  With the Landscaping done we should be able to get our final occupant permit.  Larry Wineland wants to demolition the old Township Hall by May 20th and have the Township pay for the clean up, he states that he mailed us a letter stating that it had to be done by April 1st that was not an amendment to the lease which we have with him.  The Township will contract Attorney in regards to the lease and letter sent.  Stephen Mahoney will contract Dallas Fire Department in regards to burning it down.

We went over the newsletter making several changes to it, it will be finalize at the June meeting.

Judith Huhn moved, supported by Eric Mohnke to approve the language for the Millage Proposal of Maintenance and Improvement of Roads and Construction of Bridges which is 3.25 mills for the period of 2010 to 2013 on August 3, 2010 ballot. Roll Call Vote was taken.  Yes:  Irrer, Mahoney, Mohnke, Schafer, Huhn     No:   None   Absent:  None    5 ayes, 0 nays  Resolution passed.

Marilyn Irrer moved, supported by Stephen Mahoney to approve the language for the Millage Proposal for Dust Control which is 1.25 mills for the period of 2010 to 2013 on August 3, 2010 ballot.  Roll Call Vote was taken:   Yes:  Mohnke, Schafer, Huhn, Mahoney, Irrer           No:  None        Absent:  None  5 ayes, 0 nays Resolution passed.

Marilyn Irrer moved, supported by Judith Huhn to pay all outstanding bills for a total of $14,634.38 and also pay Ross Pope for sidewalk, Consumers Energy and Jack Terrill for mowing the Cemeteries.  Motion carried.

Roads were discuss nothing new at this time.

Eric Mohnke gave a brief report about the Ambulance, stating they finished the year in the plus and also looking at buying a new Ambulance.

Arleita Schafer moved, supported by Stephen Mahoney to adjourn meeting.  Motion carried.
