MINUTES
Bengal Township Board Meeting
July 9, 2008
Supervisor Eric Mohnke called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with all board members present. Also in attendance were Jack Enderele Board of Commissioner, Rex and Tracy Mohnke and Mark Koenigsknecht.
The Board members led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Marilyn Irrer moved, supported by Stephen Mahoney to accept the Agenda with the amendments. Motion carried.
Judith Huhn moved, supported by Arleita Schafer to accept the Minutes of June 11, 2008. Motion carried.
Stephen Mahoney moved, supported by Eric Mohnke to accept the Treasurer's report as presented. Motion carried.
Jack gave a brief report about the County, just reminding that the County proposal is on the August ballot.
Gregory Armbrustmacher, Assessor was not at the meeting.
BS&A Equalizer Internet Services was tabled till next month.
Casair Wireless Internet was also tabled till next month, hoping that the head of the company will be able to come to our meeting. Mark Koenigsknecht tried to tell us about it and that Dallas Township had already passed the resolution for $20.00 a month. We still h ad a lot of questions that weren't answered and didn't feel comfortable passing a resolution at this time.
Poverty Exemption Income Guidelines was tabled until next month.
Update on the Township Hall, Steve informed us that he had two people volunteer to be on the building committee so far and he will be contracting different ones. Their first meeting will be August 13, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.
Stephen Mahoney moved, supported by Judith Huhn that we signed the road contracts for Townsend Road--Lowell Road to Grove Road and Grove Road to Airport Road and ask for a contract for Townsend Road--Francis Road to Lowell Road. Motion carried.
Judith Huhn moved, supported by Stephen Mahoney to approve the variance request from Rex and Tracy Mohnke to build a sunroom on the front of their home at 6931 West Parks Road. Motion carried.
Eric Mohnke moved, supported by Marilyn Irrer to pay all outstanding bills up to July 9, 2008 with a total of $26,213.34. Motion carried.
Arleita Schafer moved, supported by Marilyn Irrer to appoint the following people to work as election inspector on August 5, 2008. Linda Armbrustmacher, Janice Auten, Mary Ann Grennell, Eugenia Pung. Motion carried.
We had several different correspondence letters to review.
In regards to the Ambulance there is a wide range of opinions in regards to this. On Monday July 14, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. there will be a meeting at the Board of Commissioners Room in the Courthouse with the City of St. Johns in regards to different Ambulance services.
District meeting September 25, 2008 in Lansing was mentioned.
